HYDERABAD: Textiles and handlooms minister P Shankar Rao has caused yet another flutter in political circles by writing to AP Lokayukta S Ananda Reddy, requesting him to order an inquiry into involvement of influential persons in the alleged irregularities in the previous government headed by YS Rajasekhara Reddy.The minister wanted the Lokayukta to look into land allotment to companies, illegal mining, missing of bullet-proof jackets, arms and ammunition, procurement of substandard shoes and theft of fuel from the DGP’s office.Though Shankar Rao did not mention any names it is obvious that he was hinting at how the previous government had helped several companies by allotting lands which, in a quid pro quo, invested in YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s companies.The request into irregularities into illegal mining is obviously to nail Karanataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy who is a family friend of Jagan Mohan Reddy.Releasing a copy of the letter at a press conference here on Monday, the minister, who shot into limelight after his letter to the High Court was taken suo motu as a writ petition and an inquiry by the CBI was ordered into the assets of Jagan Mohan Reddy, said that he mentioned in his letter to the Lokayukta the irregularities that had come to his notice and that the Lokayukta was free to investigate if there were any allegations against him also.
