Celebrating the first anniversary of its light commercial vehicle Dost, Ashok Leyland launched a special anniversary edition here on Monday. The vehicle was launched by Adhinathan K, special director of Network Development and Costumer Care.
Dost has become one of the best-selling vehicles in the LCV category, Adhinathan said. The anniversary edition incorporates 12 new changes as per the feedback of the customers. The price of the new variant will be `15,000 higher than the normal one. The new variant will be available for `4.81 lakh (ex-showroom price) in Kerala.
The Ashok Leyland officials said that Dost is the leader of the segment with 31 per cent share in the Indian market. Even though Dost was launched an year ago, 20,479 units have been sold in one year. 3,750 units have been sold in the state alone, out of which 1500 units were sold here.
Ashok Leyland is also planning to expand the number of its outlets. Forty-four new outlets will be introduced by the end of this year. Currently, Dost is being sold from 45 outlets across eight states in the country. The company is looking forward to spread the network to all states soon, Adhinathan said.
