Attack on business tycoon with AK-47 shocks Hyderabad
The firing happened when Nityananda Reddy got into his car to drive home after completing his walk at the KBR Park around 7:15 am.

Hyderabad: On Wednesday morning, an unidentified person with an AK 47 opened fired at a top industrialist in the posh and busy locality of Banjara Hills. K Nityananda Reddy, vice chairman of Aurobindo Pharma, one of the top pharmaceutical companies in India, fortunately escaped unhurt. The police are investigating the matter and probing the motive behind the attack.

A sudden shootout in the elite Banjara Hills area of Hyderabad shook the city. The firing happened when Nityananda Reddy got into his car to drive home after completing his walk at the KBR Park around 7:15 am. As soon as the he entered the car, the assailant entered from the other door and pointed AK-47 rifle and demanded money. When Nityananda Reddy resisted, there was a scuffle. Around seven bullets were fired that went in breaking the wind shield and into the road as well.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said, "Prasad Reddy, the younger brother of the victim even came to rescue him and tried to catch the assailant. The assailant injured Prasad by biting his hand."

The daring attack took place on a busy road with early morning vehicular traffic. Who is who of Hyderabad also live in the same area. Even the head office of TDP is located nearby. The city is shocked by the firing incident.

The shooter escaped leaving behind the AK-47 rifle in the car. Police even recovered a few empty shells from the site. Police confirmed that AK-47 which was used by the lone assailant was missing from the special Greyhounds police in December 2013. A case was registered at Narsingi police station on February 3, 2014. Meanwhile, Nityananda Reddy who escaped unhurt in the shootout said that he does not know the person who tried to fire at him.

Police has registered the case under sections 307 (attempt to murder, 363 Punishment for kidnapping and also sections 25 and 27 of Arms Act) at Banjara Hills police station. Police is probing the motive behind the incident. But for now the police are investigating as to how the AK 47 rifle went missing and how it reached the unidentified shooter.
