BANGALORE: 17-year-old Kahila Wilson, an Australia, was treated for Ewing’s Sarcoma, a malignant bone tumour found among children. Diagnosed in 2007, Kahila, had visited many doctors in Australia but in vain.Finally, it was cyberknife treatment that got her a new lease on life at the city-based HCG hospital.Dr Nalini Rao, Radiation Oncologist, HCG, said, “She was diagnosed for Ewing’s Sarcoma and has been on various treatments for the last four years. She had the disease in both the lungs and in the paraspinal region for which she came here for cyberknife treatment. We have given cyberknife treatments to the lesions in both the lungs and she will need to be further evaluated for response after a period of 2 to 3 months.”Kim Wilson, mother of the patient said, “When we decided to come to India, there were many people who questioned us, but we are amazed at the technology and medical expertise which is available in India. As a mother I feel very happy to see my daughter smiling again. With the warm experience and treatment we received here in India, I plan to write a book when I get back home.” Dr B S Ajaikumar, HCG said, “She came here on a wheel chair, but now she is able to walk after the treatment.”
