Ayodhya: 1 person killed, 2 injured in Hanumangarhi temple firing
There was a dispute between rival group of priests over the money collected from devotees in Hanumangarhi temple.

Ayodhya: One person was killed and two others critically injured in a firing between rival group of priests following a dispute over property and the money collected from devotees in Hanumangarhi temple. The temple is situated near the Ramjanmbhoomi-Babri mosque site.

The two groups, being led by Mahant Bhavnath Das and Mahant Harishankar Das, both belonging to different sects of Hanumangarhi temple, were for long involved in dispute over properties and wealth being collected by temple from devotees, according to sources.

The firing happened on Sunday afternoon in the temple premises which falls in the red security zone of Ayodhya.

Faizabad Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Saksena, said that the police is investigating the matter.

Faizabad SSP, KB Singh, said that written complaints have been received from both the sides and the police is in the process of filing an FIR.

However, local police is not ready to reveal any facts regarding the firing.

Mahant Bhavnath Das is considered as a powerful priest of Ayodhya due to his proximity with a political party. While the other group, led by Mahant Harishankar Das, enjoys a good following among saints of Hanumagarhi.
