KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday expressed its dissatisfaction over the inaction on the part of the authorities to repair roads in the state and directed the state government to file an action-taken report based on the works completed pursuant to the court order and what were the proposed plans.Justice Harun-ul-Rashid made the observation and issued the directive while considering the pleas by the government and the Kochi Corporation seeking more than three months’ time to complete the maintenance works of the damaged roads. The court said bad roads has brought disgrace to the state government. “The authorities were inactive and they did nothing for the maintenance. The plea for time extension will not be allowed if the action taken report is unsatisfactory,” the court orally observed. The court had earlier set a deadline for completing the road repairs in the state and in Kochi city. It also criticised the government for not taking necessary steps to complete the work within the specified time. Meanwhile, the government and the Corporation submitted that incessant rain during the last few months had delayed the repair works.
