Bhajji's monkey menace: Row starts from a scratch
Aussie spectators allegedly called Bhajji a "wanker" and he retaliated.

New Delhi: The monkey isn’t off Harbhajan Singh’s back yet. The disputatious India off-spinner finds himself in the thick of controversy once again with allegations of making “monkey gestures” at the spectators during the first final of the India-Australia tri-series in Sydney on Sunday.

A section of Australian media reports that it all started when Harbhajan came at the receiving end of nasty spectator comments during the clash.

Reports appearing in The Sydney Morning Herald say that during the match – that India won – a section of the crowd was heard taunting Bhajji, saying, "Show us your knob" - a reference to his turban.

They also reportedly asked him to get a haircut.

The Herald reported that Harbhajan, who has been subjected to continuous taunts from Aussie spectators through the tri-series – made “monkey gestures” at the SCG crowd, scratching his armpits with both hands.

The Herald also quoted a spectator as saying that Harbhajan spat towards the crowd in retaliation after they called him "a wanker".

When Harbhajan repeated the gesture, he was photographed by the newspaper.

But Cricket Australia sources tell CNN-IBN no complaint has been filed either against Harbhajan or anyone from the crowd yet.

They also said that security officials were monitoring the cricketer’s behaviour on the field and did not report anything that was offending.

The controversial Indian bowler was banned for three Tests after Australian players gave evidence that he called Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds a monkey during the second Test in January.

The India's team manager, Bimal Soni, was also quoted as denying to Herald that Harbhajan made the gestures.
