KOLLAM: Tense moments prevailed in various parts in the district on Tuesday, as attempts were made to block the police entourage taking CPM leader M V Jayarajan to Poojappura Central Jail. DYFI activists attempted to prevent the police vehicles from proceeding near the Kollam District Jail, where the convicted leader was allowed to briefly rest for lunch. At Parippally, the DYFI activists blocked the vehicles and attempted to garland him. Following information that the entourage will rest at the district jail, DYFI members, who were waiting to greet the leader, marched to the place carrying black banner and party flags. They greeted the leader raising slogans and tried to lay siege on the jail. Police used force to remove them. CPM and DYFI activists briefly interrupted the vehicles from proceeding and greeted the leader at Neendakara, Chavara, Taluk Cutchery junction, Pallimukku, Chathannoor and Parippally.
