Terming the 'sammelan' organised by the opposition BSP to woo the Brahmin community in Uttar Pradesh as "flop show", the ruling Samajwadi party alleged that it was a "false" show of strength by the outfit.
"BSP supremo Mayawati and his number of former cabinet colleague are in the net. To save their skin a false show of strength was done in the name of sammelan which was entirely flop," SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary alleged in a statement issued in Lucknow.
He claimed that not a single member from the community was visible at the 'Brahmin Bhaichara Sammelan', addressed by the BSP supremo.
Chaudhary further alleged that in her written speech while Mayawati talked about welfare of Brahmins, she also expressed commitment towards implementation of reservation in promotion.
Meanwhile, BJP state unit's chief spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak while terming the 'sammelan' as flop show alleged that Mayawati had "cheated" Brahmins in the past.
