KOCHI: The Crime Branch, Hurt and Homicide Wing, probing the suicide case of CBI ASP Haridath, will appoint a liaison officer for assisting the investigation of the case. Meanwhile, the Crime Branch officials led by SP K G Simon searched Haridath’s CBI quarters in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. The sources in the Crime Branch told Express that they would seek the assistance of a liaison officer to interrogate the officials of another investigative agency. “The case is very complicated and there are strong allegations from the family members of Haridath and his close friends against some CBI officials. “So we have to interrogate the officials who had worked with Haridath in Thiruvananthapuram. Since the alleged persons belong to another investigative agency, a liaison officer will have to be appointed to conduct the investigation. “A request has been given to the DGP in this regard and the officer will be named in a week’s time,” the sources said. The liaison officer will be a person who acts as a mediator between the police and the CBI. “A high-ranking police officer or a top CBI official will be appointed as the liaison officer” the sources said.Meanwhile, the Crime Branch on Wednesday conducted a search at the CBI quarters in Thiruvananthapuram and seized some valuable documents.“We have seized many documents and letters written by Haridath and those delivered to him. The documents will be thoroughly examined. The main aspect of the investigation is to check whether Haridath was under any pressure from other officials in his department. We have to ascertain the people and the reason behind the death of the CBI officer,” sources in the Crime Branch said. The Crime Branch will also interrogate the Additional Sessions Judge who was named by Haridath in his suicide note. “At first, we will take the statement of the judge at a time convenient to him. We expect to take the judge’s statement as soon as possible,” the officials added.
