New Delhi: The alleged gangrape of two girls students at a 'madarsa' in Allahabad has drawn the criticism of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati.
Mayawati, on Sunday met the victims and demanded a CBI probe into the case. She also announced that an assistance of Rs five lakh would be given for the security arrangements of the 'madrasa'.
She lashed out Samajwadi Party (SP)-led UP government and demanded that the state government be dismissed and President’s rule imposed.
“There is 'Jungle Raj' and the government is 'hand-in-glove' with the Criminals,” news agency UNI quoted the BSP supremo as saying.
“I would inform in black and white about the incident to President A P J Abdul Kalam, the centre and UP Governor T V Rajeshvar and would not sit till the victims get justice,” she added.
The former CM also alleged that the police is so much under the influence of Mulayam Singh Yadav that it is not even ready to lodge FIR.
The district administration was asked to provide security cover to the 'madrasa' but it refused.
“It is an irony that Mulayam Singh Yadav was in Allahabad yesterday. He had time to visit the Ardh Kumbh Mela but did not bother to spend a moment with the victims,'' UNI quoted her as saying.
The two teenaged girls, studying in a madarsa on the outskirts of the city, were allegedly dragged out of their hostel and gangraped by some masked people late on Thursday.
According to police, five people were taken into custody in connection with the rape case while another was yet to be nabbed.
The officer-in-charge of Kareli police station, under whose jurisdiction the incident had taken place, was placed under suspension, officials said.
The school was run by Wasiullah, the brother of Varanasi blast accused Waliullah, who is in prison.
