Members of the Opposition were suspended for the Question Hour for disrupting the proceedings of the Assembly.

Hyderabad: Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu and 50 other members of TDP, TRS, CPI (M) and BJP were suspended for the Question Hour on Tuesday for disrupting the proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

They were demanding the resignation and prosecution of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on the assigned lands issue.

Marshals had to be summoned to remove some members, who refused to leave the House despite the suspension.

Soon after the House met for the day, TDP, TRS and CPI (M) members insisted discussion on their adjournment motions and the resignation of the Chief Minister for retaining the assigned lands in his possession for two-an-half years after becoming the Chief Minister.

Repeated requests by the Speaker K R Suresh Reddy to allow the Question Hour proceed fell on the deaf ears on the Opposition members, who came to the House with placards and trooped to the well demanding the resignation of Chief Minister.

The Speaker tried to counsel the Opposition members that the first hour of the House proceedings was meant for Question Hour and it could not be disrupted.

He said discussion on the implementation of the 610 GO, which stipulated repatriation of employees other than areas from the Telangana region was listed after the Question Hour.
