Check dam proposed on Muvattupuzha River

TRIPUNITHURA: Aiming to curb the issue of water shortage here, a meeting convened by Excise Minister K Babu here has proposed a check dam on Muvattupuzha river at Choondi. The proposed check dam is conceived as part of the Choondi Drinking Water Supply project, said the minister after meeting the local body members.The meeting was attended by Tripunithura Municipal Chairman R Venugopal, Maradu Municipal Chairman T K Devarajan, Kumbhalam panchayat president A J Joseph, Udayamperror panchayat president Ajitha Salim, the officials from the Corporation, KSEB and Public Works Department.In the meeting, it was also decided to distribute potable water in tanker lorries to tackle the problem in supplying water through pipelines, Venugopal said.Apart from discussing the water shortage in the area, the three-hour-long meeting also discussed issues related to electricity
