CHENNAI: Four men were hired to chase down and bludgeon to death a group of cats in Anna Nagar, the animal welfare organisation, Blue Cross said on Friday. Dawn Williams, Manager of Blue Cross, said “on entering SNT Services we were informed by its GM Brijesh Khanna that the cats were creating a nuisance by excreting on his furniture. Then he admitted to hiring the men.” A total of eight cats, a squirrel and a pigeon were caught and clubbed to death, while a cat was rescued. “In fact, once the ambulance arrived, Brijesh blocked the vehicle to prevent it from leaving, and both he and his wife tried to obstruct the way in front of my car as well,” Williams said. The men were reportedly paid `3,500 each. The Blue Cross filed a complaint. At the police station, Khanna openly admitted to hiring the men to kill the cats.
