HYDERABAD:  The Crime Investigation Department has cautioned people to be wary of high-quality fake currency notes -- Rs 1,000, Rs 500 and Rs 100 -- being pumped into the Indian market. It said criminal gangs from West Bengal, north Bihar and eastern UP have been trying to establish contact with locals to circulate fake currency in AP.The department advised people to refer to publicity material dispensed by the police and the RBI to know how to detect fake notes. CID asked people to look out for strangers from border states living in rented houses or hotels who might be in the business and pass on any such information to the local police.DGP, law and order, M Ratan said in a press release that rapid development of technology has made it easier for gangsters to print high-quality fake currency. ‘’Anyone who knows  computer graphics can print fake currency,’’ he said. Currency smuggled from abroad are relatively close to genuine notes. “Involvement of ISI and the mafia in supply of FICN has been strongly established from confessions by captured agents,’’ Ratan said. The CID and RBI has taken up programmes to create awareness among public. Posters have been displayed at public places mentioning differences between genuine and fake currency notes.
