PARAVOOR: The Almeeya Samithy of Kottapuram Diocese condemned the concerted efforts of the Education Department to tarnish and insult the church by misleading the facts while preparing the history book for Class X. The efforts to mislead the students can be seen openly in the first chapter with the title, ‘Dawn of Modern World.’ The book is allegedly prepared without conducting an indepth study of the history. The ignorance of history was clearly evident when it tried to emphasise that the feudalism in western countries was the product of the Catholic Church, the Samithy condemned. The attempt to project that the faith and doctrines of Catholic Church were old and not suitable for the present world by some sections of the Education Department deserves condemnation. The Samithy welcomed the decision to constitute a three member Expert Committee to go through the details. But the Samithy urged to remove the first chapter fully from the history book for Class X. Diocese Vicar General Msgr. Dominic Pinhero presided over the meeting. Samithy Director Fr. Nixon Kattassery, Diocese PRO Fr. Rocky Robin Kalathil, Secretary Joy Gothuruth and KLCA President Raphael Antony spoke.The Samithy also expressed its wishes to Mar George Alanchery who assumed the office of the Major Archbishop of Syro Malabar Church recently.
