BANGALORE: The Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has decided to call a meeting of senior officers to decide whether the BBMP, with a debt burden of Rs 3,090 crores, should be bailed out.On Friday, a broke Corporation presented its case in front of the chief minister asking him to increase the State Government funding for the Corporation. The BBMP delegation, led by Home and Transport Minister R Ashok and Suresh Kumar, Minister, Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs, asked the government to release enough funds to ease the debt burden, before the release of the budget on August 18.Speaking to The New Indian Express, before the meeting, Commissioner Siddaiah, said that the City Corporation deserves State Government support. He also said that the chief minister will definitely allocate funds from the state budget to ease the financial situation in the Corporation. The meeting with the chief minister has delayed the release of the budget, which was supposed to be presented in the first week of August. With many projects from last year still in the pipeline, the Corporation is desperately seeking state support. With the State Government, now considering the Corporation’s case, the Palike’s financial statements should look better this year.
