NELLORE: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has reportedly asked collector B Sridhar about the supply of 'HIVinfected' blood to a pregnant woman by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Blood Bank.According to sources, the chief minister after getting the case details from Sridhar at the collectors' conference in Hyderabad, expressed concern over the collection of 'unsafe blood' from donors by the IRCS Blood Bank. He instructed the collector to take stringent action against the guilty based on the report of high power committee set up to look into the matter. Meanwhile, the Drugs Control Department officials inspected the blood bank on Thursday and examined medical equipment.The IRCS also collected blood samples of the donors who donated the three units of 'O' positive blood on September 30, which was administered to the pregnant woman during a caesarean operation at Triveni Hospitals on November 2. However, they were tightlipped on results of blood tests.
