A fresh controversy has engulfed the State Wakf Board over allegations of continuation of the administrative officer Md Issaq despite his suspension for defying Government orders.
The Anjuman Ittehadul Muslemin has moved the Chief Minister on the issue requesting immediate action on the issue. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department, acting on the orders of the Governor, had on August 4, placed Md Issaq under suspension while working on initiation of departmental proceedings against him for not joining as Block Development Officer (BDO), Titilagarh. The Governor had also ordered that during the period of suspension, the headquarters of Md Issaq, should be at Balangir under the disposal of Collector there.
“But in gross violation of the Governor’s order, the former administrative officer, who has been transferred months ago, has not joined his post and is continuing to discharge his duties here,” Anjuman Ittehadul Muslemin secretary Salim Khan said.
The Association has also called for high-level inquiry into the irregularities in the Wakf Board in terms of sale of Masjid properties at different places. Issaq, however, refuted the allegations stating that he is deliberately violating Government orders.
“I myself had requested for transfer and was accordingly shifted. I am forced to continue in the position as no substitute officer has been provided to the Wakf. But, as I am holding three posts that of the Chief Executive of Wakf Board, secretary of Haj Committee and Survey Commissioner of Wakf, I am not able to relinquish the posts till a replacement is appointed. My case is with the Law and Revenue Departments and a decision will be taken soon,” Issaq said.
