CHENNAI: As part of its crackdown on unauthorised constructions in the city, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority’s (CMDA) on Wednesday sealed the construction of commercial building in T Nagar for violating sections 56 and 57 (4) of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1971.They said that the owner had obtained permission in 2010 for a cottage industry-cum-residential building comprising stilt floor plus ground floor, besides first and second floors with six dwelling units.He, however, constructed a commercial building comprising stilt floor, plus ground floor, plus second and third floors a deviation in terms of setbacks, building use and unauthorised floors.An application for a revised plan was rejected by CMDA in July 2011 due to violations in development regulationsAs the owner was proceeding with the unauthorised construction, the building was sealed, CMDA sources said.
