Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday exuded confidence that Hemaram Chaudhary would withdraw his resignation after quitting last month as the state's revenue minister following a row over the location of a proposed oil refinery.

"We are in touch and I believe he (Hemamram) will withdraw his resignation. It was a small issue and there was no ground for him to resign," Gehlot told reporters on the sidelines of a government programme here in Jaipur.

Hemaram was apparently upset over the shifting of the refinery project from Leelala village to Pachpadra (both in Barmer).

Last month, after a spat with Congress MLA Sonaram at a public meet in Barmer, he faxed his resignation to Gehlot without mentioning any reason for the same.

Gehlot, meanwhile, has also accused opposition BJP of misleading the people over the refinery issue.

"We want this refinery to be set up in four years but the opposition is misleading the people.

"They have no knowledge about the project and are trying to create problems," Gehlot said adding.

The project is being set up by HPCL and the state government has a share of 26 per cent in it.
