Congress names OPCC team, at last

BHUBANESWAR: After dithering for long, the All India Congress Committee on Tuesday announced the names of the office-bearers of the OPCC and constituted a Coordination Committee for the first time. The Coordination Committee, headed by senior Congress leader and State in-charge Jagdish Tytler, has 11 members, including OPCC chief Niranjan Patnaik and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh. The other members are Narsingh Mishra, Nalinikanata Mohanty, Congress Chief Whip in the Assembly Prasad Harichandan, Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, Chiranjiv Biswal, Ram Chandra Khuntia, Chakradhar Paik, Mamata Madhi and Debasis Patnaik.Niranjan was appointed the new OPCC chief on June 8. The high command took more than two and half months to constitute the OPCC. Chiranjiv has been chosen as the new treasurer of the party while six others have been appointed vice-presidents. They are Kishore Patel, Matlub Ali, Hema Gomang, Nalinikanta, Gurupada Nanda and Sibananda Ray. The OPCC has 10 general secretaries,  including Satya Bhusan Sahu, Debasis, Nabkishore Das, Harichandan, Prafulla Majhi, Arya Kumar Gyanendra, Ganeswar Behera, Satyabrat Patra and Suresh Mohapatra. Sabitri Sahoo is the lone woman in the list. The party also constituted the new Election Committee and Campaign Committee. The Election Committee, headed by the OPCC chief, has 12 members, including Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Srikanta Jena. The other members of the committee include Bhupinder, AP Sethi, Giridhar, Chiranjiv, Debasis, Dolagobinda Pradhan, Bijaylaxmi Sahoo, Jaganath Patnaik, Lalatendu and Sriballav Panigrahi. The Campaign Committee, again headed by the OPCC president, has 21 members. Prominent among them are Bhupinder, Bhakta Das, Chandra Sekhar Sahu, Giridhar, Hemandanda Biswal, KP Singhdeo, KC Lenka, Jaydev Jena, Lalatendu, Nalinikanta, Narsingh, Srikant, RC Khuntia, SR Patnaik, Sarat Kar, Ranjib Biswal, Suresh Routray and Sushila Tiria.  The OPCC is having 25 executive members, 33 permanent members and 32 special invitees.
