Congress, TDP tarnishing YSRs image

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Congress party has joined hands with Telugu Desam Party to tarnish the image of former chief minister, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for political mileage, ignoring welfare of the poor, said President of YSR Congress Party, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.Addressing the gathering here on Sunday, Jagan said the Congress government had neglected farmers.“The farming community was totally vexed with anti-farmer policies of the government and many farmers were committing suicide.Many others were now shying away from venturing into cultivation,” he said.“Sonia Gandhi is enjoying Congress president’s post due to legacy of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy,” he said.After sudden demise of YSR, Sonia and Congress Party leaders abandoned the YSR family, he added.On the current political scenario, Jagan said Congress party is revoking all welfare schemes in the state introduced by his father, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, he said.Strikes have become synonymous with farmers, contract employees and junior doctors in the state, who were protesting against the Congress government, he said.“Everybody is fighting a war with Congress, which is more interested in maligning the image of YSR rather than listening to the woes of people in distress,” he said.The Congress government has utterly failed to implement the fee reimbursement scheme, leaving students high and dry, he added.Jagan Mohan Reddy attended various programmes organised on Sunday.He garlanded statue of BR Ambedkar at LIC Building Junction and also inaugurated his party office at Maddilapalem in the city, after which he addressed a public meeting near V S Krishna College on Sunday.He also unveiled statue of his father, the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at Peddawaltair in the city and travelled to Yelamanchili and Payakaraopeta to extend support to distressed farmers
