VELLORE: Collector Ajay Yadav held a consultative meeting at the Collectorate here on Thursday, regarding the new traffic diversions that was being experimented in the Fort City. Several suggestions made by the public, traders associations, patients and private hospitals, NGOs, police personnel and transport officials in this regard were discussed at the meeting.Instructing the officials concerned to consider the suggestions public during the pilot test, Yadav said that if the plan under test yielded positive results then it would be permanently in place in the city. Highlighting the importance of road safety, the Collector said if more than two persons travelled on a two-wheeler, they should be caught and fined and those who spit on roads and smoke in public places should also be billed. Yadav said that parents should not allow their wards below 18 years to ride two-wheelers and those above 18 years should compulsorily hold license to drive or ride vehicles.
