MANGALORE: Leelavathi, 32, near Venur before going missing from September 9, 2005, was last seen with Mohan Kumar, witnesses testified at the Fast Track Court on Monday.BSP district general secretary Satish deposing before the court in the ‘Cyanide’ Mohan case, said he knew Leelavathi as she was the party’s organising secretary. He had seen her with Kumar at B C Road bus stand. A month before her disappearance he had seen them having intimate conversation at a programme in Town Hall.Document writer and Ambedkar Samaj Seva Sanga honorary secretary Bhanuchandra deposing before the court, revealed Leelavathi had introduced him to Kumar. A week before she disappeared she had confided with him on being in love and would be marrying soon. To a pointed query from Judge Ningannagouda Jantli, he revealed that she had not disclosed the name of her future husband.Four years later, Satish confessed to being ‘shocked’ on seeing pictures of ‘Cyanide’ Mohan in newspapers. On reading that he was allegedly involved in the murder of Leelavati and 19 other women, Satish contacted Leelavathi’s parents and Bantwal police to reveal that he had seen them together before her disappearance. Bhanuchandra testified to maintaining silence as he, like the rest, had believed that Leelavathi had become a “naxalite”.However, both later had their statements recorded by CID on March 4, 2010. During cross-examination both denied giving false statements to police in order to implicate Kumar in the Leelavathi murder case. During re-examination, Bhanuchandra admitted on considering her marriage as being a personal issue for not revealing any information about Kumar even to her parents.
