HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader and former minister R Damodar Reddy has demanded an unconditional apology from former chief minister K Rosaiah to the party for his “failure’’ to carry out the party high command’s directive to introduce a resolution in the Assembly urging the Centre to form Telangana state.Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Reddy said all political parties expressed unanimous opinion on December 7, 2009. On the basis of the state government’s recommendations the Congress high command directed Union home minister P Chidambaram to make a statement which he did on December 9, 2009. Later, the Congress directed the then chief minister K Rosaiah to introduce a resolution in the Assembly but he he did not carry out the order.Damodar Reddy alleged that Rosaiah, Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandara Rao, senior leaders JC Diwakar Reddy, and present health minister DL Ravandra Reddy prepared an action plan with help of Telugu Desam MLAs to prevent Telangana state from coming into being. Due to Rosaiah’s conspiracy, Telangana people were denied a state of their own, 600 people lost their lives and political uncertainty prevailed in the state. “Rosaiah is responsible for all these things and should tender an unconditional apology to the Congress party,’’ Reddy demanded.Damodar Reddy claimed that he had raised the issue at the CLP meeting on February 12 and demanded a discussion on Telangana but Rosaiah cunninglly moved a resolution which entrusted the matter to the high command. He took strong objection to Rosaiah’s call for suspension of all agitations in view of Sonia Gandhi’s ill health and said Telangana Congress leaders needed no advice from anyone as they knew what to do and what not to do. Another senior leader and former minister T Jeevan Reddy demanded that the Congress high command take action against Rosaiah.
