KOPPAL Koppal: MP Shivaramegouda and DC Tulasi Maddineni have reportedly locked horns over government vehicle and utilisation of MPLAD funds. Upon announcement of byelection to Koppal, the MP was asked to surrender the government vehicle as code of conduct was applicable to the entire district. Though the MP did so on September 2, he shot a missive to the DC on the same day, asking how does he attend official meetings in parts of his constituency till the elections. The DC forwarded the same to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Bangalore, for direction. The CEO reportedly instructed the DC to ask the MP to furnish the tour programme during the said period. The MP has complied with the same and awaiting the CEO’s reply through the DC. On overutilisation of MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds for construction of community halls near places of worship, while the DC has reportedly withheld approval for the same, based on a government circular, the MP is said to have contended that the circular is applicable only to MLALAD funds and not MPLAD funds.
