BHUBANESWAR: Dense fog in Delhi led to cancellation of Delhi-Bhubaneswar-Port Blair Air India flight triggering angry reactions from the passengers on Monday morning. The flight departs New Delhi at 5.30 am and arrives in Bhubaneswar at 7.30 am. After a 30-minute interval, it leaves for Port Blair. On the return route, it reaches Bhubaneswar at 12.30 pm. However, the cancellation caused inconvenience to both Andaman and Delhi-bound passengers. “Andaman and Nicober Islands have a sunset limitation because of which take off and landing are not allowed beyond a point in the afternoon. Since fog was delaying the flight, it was cancelled,” Air India’s Bhubaneswar Station Manager Arpan Sanyal said. At least 11 passengers who had booked for Port Blair were flown in by the national carrier’s daily fight to Chennai. They will be taken to Port Blair on Tuesday morning. For the 40 passengers, bound for Delhi on the flight’s return route, the AI brought in a bigger aircraft to accommodate them in the evening flight. “We have used Air Bus 321, instead of 319, so that we could accommodate the 40 travellers to Delhi,” Sanyal informed.
