HYDERABAD: Decks have been cleared for the appointment of senior IPS officer K Durga Prasad as chief of the elite Special Protection Group with the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by prime minister Manmohan Singh and Union home minister P Chidambaram clearing on Monday the file pertaining to his appointment.The ministry of home affairs (MHA) is likely to issue the formal orders by Tuesday.Top sources told Express that the ACC met in Delhi on Monday and cleared the name of Durga Prasad.The file was sent to the MHA in the evening though Durga Prasad has not received any official communication so far.‘’Now that the ACC has cleared his name, the MHA will formally issue the orders of his appointment tomorrow,’’ sources said.Sources said Durga Prasad was interviewed by the outgoing SPG chief, BV Wanchoo, after which the file was moved for his appointment.
