HASSAN: The separate visits of Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and former CM B S Yeddyurappa to Hassan district gave rise to speculations on Sunday.The Chief Minsiter visited Sakleshpur along with Medium and Large Scale Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani and Forest Minister C P Yogeshwar where they attended the wedding of the grand-daughter of former MLA B B Shivappa, who is said to be former CM Yeddyurappa’s rival.The CM had planned to hold a district review meeting at Sakleshpur.Minister V Somanna accompanied Yeddyurappa to the Kodimutt function. Yeddyurappa and Somanna did not attend the marriage, despite being personally invited by the former MLA. BJP workers and leaders were surprised when Sadananda Gowda attended the marriage.On condition of anonymity, a senior BJP leader asked the CM about his visit to the marriage ignoring BSY’s instructions. The rift between Shivappa and Yeddyurappa began when the latter decided to support Jagadish Shettar for the post of BJP state president, six years ago.It intensified when former Union minister and JD(S) leader Basavaraj Patil Yetnal visited Shivappa’s house often during the dissident activities which peaked when BSY was chief minister.The Chief Minister cancelled the review meeting organised at the taluk office by the district authority. Interestingly, Sadananda Gowda and Yeddyurappa did not express differences when they spoke to reporters on different occasions.However, the CM unofficially held a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, SP, EE PWD, Irrigation, forest and ZP CEO at the inspection bungalow.DVS also held an indoor meeting with Shivappa for ten minutes.
