KASARGOD: The DYFI and the Solidarity Youth Movement took out marches in the town hailing the Supreme Court verdict on Friday retaining its earlier order banning the production and use of endosulfan in the country.Though the anti-endosulfan action committee convener Narayanan Peria welcomed the Supreme Court verdict, he said that it was immoral to export endosulfan to other countries.P Karunakaran MP said the verdict was the successful culmination of the peoples’ fight against endosulfan.However, S Ganesan, advisor to the Hyderabadbased Centre for Environment and Agrochemicals, said the national agencies had reported that the Supreme Court order allowing export of endosulfan has come as a relief to the endosulfan manufacturers.The DYFI had opposed the export of endouslfan in the Supreme Court.The Supreme Court has only said that the ban would continue, he said.According to Ganesan, the visual media in Kerala misinterpreted the verdict of the Supreme Court.The court had banned the production, sale and use of endosulfan in its verdict on May 13.It has now adjourned the case to October 10 for further proceedings, he said.
