KOCHI: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Santhosh Nair, who is the sixth accused in the VB Unnithan murder attempt case, has filed a complaint before the Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, alleging that Kannur Range DIG S Sreejith, Crime Branch (CB) SPs Sam Christy Daniel and Mohammed Faisal made attempts to sabotage the case.DySP Santhosh Nair submitted before the court that the three officials had entered into a conspiracy to protect the real culprits in the Unnithan murder attempt case.They illegally detained Santhosh Nair at the Crime Branch office in Kaloor here from May 19 to 21. The court on Thursday adjourned further proceedings to June 2. The court will also record the statement of Santhosh Nair on the same day.According to the complaint, DIG Sreejith asked Santhosh Nair to own up the crime so as to save the image of the Oommen Chandy government."Sreejith, who is the head of the investigating team, promised that once the investigation gets over, they would file a frivolous chargesheet to ensure that the accused could be savedwithout any difficulty,” the complaint said.Santhosh Nair was summoned to appear at the Crime Branch office on May 19. “When I reached the office they locked me up in an isolated room and snatched my mobile phone. Sreejith and the others also used abusive language and ordered my brother-in-law Santhosh Kumar and my friend Sunil Kumar to stand outside the office. Later, they destroyed the SIM card and the mobile phone which were to be surrendered before the court,” Santhosh Nair said.On May 20, Sam Christy and container Santhosh came to the room, he said. On the same day, DySP Abdul Rasheed called Sam Christy and asked to give the phone back to Santhosh.But he refused to talk to Rasheed.There are eight witnesses in the complaint submitted by DySP Santhosh Nair. Three records were also produced before the court in connection with the complaint.
