BANGALORE: On the occasion of Earth Day on Sunday, a colour festival was organised by the Colour Hands and Brain Waves Academia, in which over 400 participants gathered at Malleswaram to paint and spread the message to save the environment.Minister for Urban Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs and BWSSB S Suresh Kumar said that the time for action was now. “We all have to take immediate steps to save mother earth. We should dedicate ourselves to save the planet otherwise the outcome will be disastrous. The younger generation should be taught to save resources so that they too start working towards saving the planet. ,” he said. While some children painted about switching off lights, saving water, using bicycles instead of other vehicles, the one cartoon that stood out and drew maximum eyeballs was that of two children holding earth in their hands, done by noted cartoonist and artist B G Gujjarappa.“Our first Earth Day event has had more than 400 people trying to create awareness using art. Often people can express creative solutions to problem using art and this was our initiative. Our theme was Reuse, Recycle, Reduce and Rethink and we have had people of all age groups participating,” said Shoba Ravishankar, Director, Color Hands and Brain Waves Academia.
