Earth shakes, little impact here

BHUBANESWAR: The earthquakes, in the Sikkim-Nepal border region, which shook the north-east and eastern Indian states, made their impact felt in Orissa on Sunday evening.Tremors were felt across the State following the back-to-back earthquakes. People from coastal Orissa, which is reeling under a devastating flood, were particularly panicked after they felt the after-effect of the earthquakes. Locals of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Rourkela as well their neighbouring regions reported the tremors.A little after 6 pm, two earthquakes rocked the north-east India. The first one, which was recorded at 6.10 pm was measured 6.8 on the Ritcher scale while the second one was felt at 6.42 pm, reading 5.3 on the seismic scale.The India Meteorological Department said, the back-to-back earthquakes have had no impact in the State.
