Counselling for admissions to engineering colleges in the state is likely to begin on August 6.
Deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, who is also holding the additional charge of higher education, has said will convene a meeting with officials and representatives of the engineering college managements on July 29 to finalise the schedule of counselling and discuss fee structure.
Rajanarsimha held a meeting with his department officials and representatives of engineering colleges here on Saturday, and discussed the counselling schedule and revision of the fee structure which was causing the delay in conducting the counselling. However, he said counselling would begin on August 6.
Engineering College Managements Association president Aurora Ramesh said they had submitted a representation to the deputy chief minister on the problems being faced by them and explained to him about the need for increasing the fee.
He said there was no other option left for the engineering colleges than increasing the fee and the managements came forward with proposals in the interest of poor students. The dispute with regard to the managements of 133 engineering colleges which have gone to the court on fee structure would be settled, he added.
