Stockholm: England football coach Sven Goran Eriksson is cashing in on his past record.
Eriksson was honoured by the Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf at a medal ceremony in Stockholm on Tuesday.
He received the King's Medal of the Twelfth Size with Royal Blue Ribbon for what the Royal Court called "his valuable contribution, national and international, to the sport of soccer".
Eriksson was supposed to receive the medal at a ceremony in June, but was unable to attend.
Eriksson became England's first foreign coach in January 2001.
The Swede's success in domestic soccer includes leading IFK Goteborg to the UEFA Cup in 1982.
He also won trophies with Portugal's Benfica and Italian clubs Roma, Sampdoria and Lazio.
