The Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Chennai, launched an intense arrear recovery drive from August 1.
During the first three weeks, action was taken against chronic and habitual defaulters and six complaints were filed under sections 406/409 for defaulting in payment of employee’s share deducted from wages.
Prosecution was sanctioned for 16 counts of default.
Process for arrest of the defaulter was initiated in 22 cases, arrest warrant issued in three cases and one defaulter was arrested.
Warrant for attachment of movable property was issued in five cases and attachment was made in one case, while immovable properties of three defaulters were attached and auction sale ordered for one immovable property.
Twenty eight bank accounts pertaining to 14 establishments were attached.
The action has resulted in recovery of Rs 2,91,83,779 so far.
