Few actors attend one-day token fast

CHENNAI: Except for actors Suriya, Arjun and Parthiban, big stars of the Tamil film industry failed to turn up for the one-day token fast observed on Tuesday by the industry to express its solidarity with the anti-graft movement led by Anna Hazare. Though the fast was scheduled to start at 9 am, actress Rohini was the only star who turned up at the said time. Surya joined the campaign around 12.30pm, followed by Arjun at 2.30pm. The crowd began building up only around 10 am. Around 20 police personnel were also deployed for surveillance at the venue.Others who participated in the fast included film directors Cheran, Murugadoss, R K Selvamani, Mano Bala, Vasanthabalan and Thangarbachan, actors, YG Mahendran, Ajay Ratnam and producers KR, L Suresh and Chitra Lakshmanan.
