Fire mishap at timber depot in Bandlaguda

HYDERABAD:  In a major fire mishap that lasted for more than 15 hours, timber and plywood worth several lakhs of rupees was reduced to ashes at Bandlaguda on the outskirts of the city today. Nearly 30 fire service personnel with three fire tenders and more than 100 water tankers battled the fire for almost the entire day.Around 4.30 a.m, fire broke out in the Vanraj Wood Products Depot. As thick smoke and flames emanated from the depot, five families living adjacent to it were evacuated by firefighters. Luckily, none was injured. The fire was brought under control late in the evening. Firefighters faced a tough time as heavy winds added to the fire which burnt large quantity of plywood and other wood products.
