HYDERABAD: The AP fire service officials, in their report, have concluded negligence on part of the Reliance Fresh management led to the fire mishap on the first floor of MV Plaza in Kondapur on Sunday. They said the management was running their business without installing fire safety measures.
A day after a major fire mishap took place at the fivestoreyed building and completely destroyed the Reliance Fresh outlet, GHMC officials constituted a team of engineers to probe into the issue and submit a comprehensive report. "The building had initially obtained approvals as a residential complex. Without any intimation to the GHMC, they converted the first floor of the fivestoreyed building into commercial space by opening the Reliance Fresh outlet. We have issued orders to seal the building and constituted a team comprising expert engineers to look into construction standards. We will initiate necessary action against MV Plaza owners after receiving a report," said G Krishnaiah, GHMC deputy commissioner, Serilingampally1. The owner of the building had applied for regularisation under Building Penalisation Scheme but did not pay any fees to the GHMC. "The owner did not obtain any approvals to convert the first floor into commercial space," he added.
