HYDERABAD: The celebrations of Mahakavi Gurajada Swarnothara Satabdi will be conducted year-long in all districts with 100 writers and poets to be honoured with the Gurajada Awards-2011, said Vatti Vasanth Kumar, minister for tourism and culture.Speaking at Mahakavi Gurajada Swarnothara Satabdi Utsavalu conducted by the AP State Cultural Council and T Subbarami Reddy Lalitha Kala Parishat on Wednesday, the minister said, “The council has planned to spread the Telugu poetry of Gurajada by celebrating his 150 birthday.Gurajada’s literary work teaches not only patriotism but also humanism.” Responding to demands made by RV Ramana Murthy, chairman, AP State Cultural Council, Vatti Vasanth Kumar said, “Gurajada house will be made into a monument and his works made available for youth. The council will set up Gurajada Peetham in line with Gurram Joshua and Boyi Bhimanna peetham. I will also recommend the Centre to print a postal stamp on Gurajada.Four stage-play artists Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, JV Ramana Murthy, Kandimalla Sambasiva Rao and Alapati Lakshmi were given Gurajada Awards-2011 on the occasion. Four writers P Lalita Kumari (Olga), Dr Katyayani Vidmahe, Atukuri Prasad and Rajapalayam Chandrashekara Reddy were given awards.
