Cannes: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is on cloud nine after three of his films have been chosen to be a part of 65th Cannes International Film Festival. After 'Peddlers', both parts of Kashyap's 'Gangs of Wasseypur', has been chosen for screening at the fest's Directors' Fortnight section.
Director's Fortnight is a non-competitive section at the festival, where gangster drama 'Gangs of Wasseypur' will have its world premiere.
It will be showcased alongside 20 films from all over the world in the features' section.
"Three of our films; 'Peddlers', 'Gangs Of Wasseypur' (I & II) at Cannes Film Festival. HUGE MOMENT OF PRIDE FOR US!" Kashyap tweeted after the official announcement of the line-up of the films.
The film, produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, has actors like Jaideep Ahlawat, Manoj Bajpayee and Raima Sen.
"Amongst all the madness... GOW was a film that almost didn't get made... if it wasn't for VIACOM 18... so the biggest thank you to them," added Kashyap.
The other film under his banner Anurag Kashyap Films Pvt. Ltd, 'Peddlers', is directed by Vasan Bala. It will be showcased at Cannes Critics' Week and compete for the prestigious Camera d'Or.
And that's not all from India.
Filmmaker Ashim Ahluwalia's movie 'Miss Lovely' has also been selected to represent India in the non-competitive section of the festival, which is said to attract 35,000 film professionals and over 4,000 international journalists every year.
Ahluwalia's movie is set in the lower depths of Mumbai's 'C' grade film industry and follows the story of two brothers, who are producers of sleazy horror films in the mid-1980s.
'Miss Lovely' will be showcased alongside 16 other movies in the Un Certain Regard section of the festival.
