Government to formulate land utilisation plan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government will formulate a land utilisation plan identifying the land unsuited for cultivation.Revenue and Vigilance Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said  a Land Utility Bank would be set up to provide land for development activities.He said when the resurvey was completed in 767 villages the government received 22 lakh complaints.He said majority of the complaints were solved and 95000 complaints were yet to be solved.He said Bhoomi Keralam had submitted a project  costing  Rs 241 crore to the Central Government to  complete the resurvey work in the remaining 768  villages using  Electronic Total Station(ETS) and Global Positioning System(GPS) in one year.  The government estimates that 23040 employees will be required for one year to complete the project. The employees will be recruited on an empanel basis from the PSC ranklist and employment exchange.He said the government would appoint 236 persons to protect the government land which had been evicted  in Thiruvananthapuram.The government was planning to survey the government property and stipulate the boundaries  and fix the boundaries  of the private land only on their demand.A committee comprising  Land Revenue Commissioner, Joint Commissioner and Additional Secretary (Revenue) will be set up to evolve a practical approach on construction of houses and conversion of wetland.  The committee will submit the report in three months.The minister said that the government had formulated a project to provide land to the deserving landless people from the economically backward communities.  Two cents of land will be given in  cities and 3 cents in the villages. The land being provided by the government  could not be alienated for 25 years.There will be provision to prevent those who have already received the land  from applying for land again.
