BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda promised the teaching community to look into their demands on priority basis, including filling the vacancies of over 4800 teaching posts in primary and secondary schools in the state.Speaking after receiving a memorandum from the Karnataka State Primary School Teachers Association and members of the Karnataka Legislative Council representing teachers, he announced the State Government’s decision to extend the grant-in-aid to all private institutions started from 1995. He said that State Government had already released Rs 65 crore and another Rs 90 crore would be released shortly to meet the financial commitment on the issue.Referring to the existing transfer policy for the teachers, the chief minister said that it had evoked a good response from the teaching community. He said, if required, the system would be further streamlined. He also promised to release the pending bills related to medical expenses borne by the teachers. Referring to the demand for wage revision, the chief minister said that already the government had placed the matter before the wage committee and a final decision would be taken in the immediate future.
