With a potpourri of handicrafts and handloom materials on offer, the Gujarat Handicrafts exhibition has started at Jawahar Balabhavan in the city. Artisans from nine states - Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Gujarat have come up with exquisite items in categories including clothing, jewellery, showpieces, gift items etc for shopaholics to pick from.
The ornament section has a collection of elegant and charming trinkets which may woo the female customers. Jewellery made of precious and semi precious stones coming all the way from Jaipur, including bangles, and earrings, are alluring. A set of 22 carat gold-plated accessories too find a place among them. Colourful pieces of terracotta jewellery made in Gorakhpur and Kolkata are among the displays.
An array of kurtas rule the roost among the clothing section. Coming in radiant and light colours, they are available in several designs. Colourful Ghagra Choli and Chaniya Choli stand out among them. Both men and women can choose theirs from among them. Saris and churidars are not far behind, with an impressive range on display.
Handbags and wallets coming from Delhi, priced between Rs 100 and Rs 900 have many takers. Of this, leather bags are available between a price range of Rs 500 and Rs 900.
Artificial flowers coming in various sizes and colours may embellish your interiors. Kids can pick their favourite from the section comprising wooden toys. Bedsheets with applique and embroidery works, cushion covers and various other home decor materials too are exhibited. A wide range of wooden artefacts and utensils attract a steady flow of crowd.
A 20 percent discount is offered for handloom products whereas handicrafts have a discount of 10 percent. The expo, organised by Gujarat Emporium, would come to a close on September 2. Timing: from 10 am to 8 pm.
