Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat made surprise midnight visit to different facilities including railway station, two police stations and a leading government hospital in Dehradun and expressed "dissatisfaction" over the arrangements.

Rawat spent nearly an hour visiting the railway station, Doon Hospital, the Kotwali and Ara Ghar police stations to take stock of the facilities, his Officer On Special Duty Rajiv Jain said.

The chief minister expressed dissatisfaction over inadequate facilities for passengers at the railway station and said he will soon take up the matter with concerned officials.

He also pulled up authorities at the Doon hospital for lack of hygiene and lighting facilities in the toilets.

Finding just one woman police constable on duty at the Kotwali, he asked the SHO to deploy at least two lady police constables on duty at night, Jain said adding that the chief minister will continue to make such surprise inspections.

Days after he replaced Vijay Bahuguna as chief minister on February 2, Rawat had visited the flash-flood-hit districts of Chamoli and Rudrapryag and said separate disaster management officials with administrative and financial powers will be appointed there to provide succour to people.

He also paid a surprise visit to a slum area in Dehradun and listened to grievances of dwellers.
