Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Monday suspended an executive engineer of the Public Works Department for financial irregularities, and ordered a departmental inquiry into the matter.
Executive engineer Badlu Ram was suspended with immediate effect, according to an official release. On complaints that Ram, when posted in Pithoragarh, misused his official position by giving the work order of a Rs 2-lakh project without tender, an inquiry was carried out by chief engineer Lokesh Sharma.
The investigation revealed his involvement in financial irregularities. Following the report, the Chief Minister gave the suspension order.
A detailed inquiry into the matter will now be carried out. Action will be taken against those found guilty, the released said.
