BANGALORE: Bharatiya Kisan Sangha on Wednesday announced it would protest against lathicharge on farmers, who had gathered to get seeds in Haveri on Tuesday.At a press conference in the city on Wednesday, members of the Sangha said they would hold protests in various districts across the state.They will also submit a memorandum to Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda demanding compensation for the injured farmers.State president of Sangha Yelandur Ranganath said, “Officials nowadays do not visit farmers and talk about which seeds are good for them,” he said.The Sangha will be holding mass enrolment drives in May Congress demands Katti’s resignationBANGALORE: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee’s Kisan Khet Mazdur vice-president Anandkumar condemned the incident of lathicharge on farmers, who were distributing Bt Cotton seeds on Tuesday in Haveri.In a press statement issued here on Wednesday, Anandkumar blamed the state government for the incident and said that over 10 farmers were injured in the police attack and were admitted to the hospital.It is alleged that the incident exhibited that the BJP government is adopting an anti-farmer policy.The inability to ensure the availability of sufficient seeds shows the party’s insensitivity towards farmers.He has also demanded the resignation of State Agriculture Minister Umesh Katti on moral grounds
