HC asks commissioner to file report

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has directed the Ernakulam city police commissioner to file a report on the action taken on the Central CI’s report regarding the alleged illegal arrest of a person.Justice B P Ray passed the order on a petition filed by Sujanapal, Palangadath House, Nallalam Kozhikode against M Rajagopal, who was serving as an SI at Ernakulam Central station.Sujanapal was arrested by on March 18, 2011 in connection with a case registered in central police station that he had forged a bill of BSNL Kozhikode. It was Shahul Hameed, the fifth respondent in the petition, lodged complaint against Sujanapal with the police.The petitioner submitted that he had not produced any forged document before the court. He further submitted that he had filed a criminal complaint and civil litigation against Shahul Hameed.Shahul Hameed influenced the police officer to take the vengeance. “The police officer had arrested me without conducting proper investigation into the matter,” the petitioner submitted.During the hearing, the public prosecutor had submitted that the petitioner was arrested without sufficient cause.
