New Delhi: Delhi High Court has restrained AIIMS governing body from taking punitive action against its Director P Venugopal.

Justice P Anil Kumar passed the injunction on an application moved by Venugopal wherein he had apprehended his termination of service at the institute body meeting of the premier health institute.

On October 6, the Union Health Ministry had postponed the October 10 'institute body' meeting by eight days citing that the premier health institute continues to get fresh dengue cases.

The application mentioned before Justice Anil Kumar during the hearing of Venugopal's petition challenging his termination by the Government sought stay on the September 29 notice issued by Health Minister Anbumani Ramdoss in this regard.

The Director has alleged that the Minister has violated the statutory regulations of AIIMS while fixing the date for the meeting with a "one point" agenda for his removal from the office.
